Geocaching

Caching with Condella

We are most pleased to announce Fox 6 and Schlitz Audubon Nature Center (SANC) are teaming up to promote the latest outdoor craze geocaching. Here at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center we like to think of geocaching as hiking with a purpose. SANC will be placing the caches somewhere in Southeastern Wisconsin. Tune in to Fox 6 news to hear the new monthly coordinates from Vince Condella during his weather report.

SANC's geocaching extraordinaire, Jim Hyatt will be conducting classes at SANC open to FOX 6 viewers:

Geocaching 101

Are you wondering what all the fuss about geocaching is? Well, come to the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center on one of these days and find out! It's a new form of recreation that combines hiking with technology. For you outdoor enthusiasts, it gives you something to look for while you are hiking. For you techies, it gives you a chance to use a GPS unit while getting exercise.

Jim Hyatt will spend the first half hour introducing you to geocaching, GPS units, and a few choice websites.

Next you will head outside so Jim can get you familiar with the units. After that, you are on your own while you try to find caches hidden on the Center property.

Please Contact Jim Hyatt for more information about future classes.

The center has units for you to borrow with your driver ’s license, or bring your own GPS unit to get more familiar with it.

Please register in advance as space is limited. Call the center at (414) 352-2880 ext.138, or email geocache@sanc.org to join today!

Join in the fun!

  • Watch Fox 6 at 9pm during the weather forecast for coordinates.
