Weekend Front Desk Volunteer Needed:

We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable using a computer to help at the front desk once a month on weekends. The shifts are either Saturday or Sunday, from 9:00am – 12:30pm or 12:30 –5:00pm. The main duties of this position are to answer the phone, use the computer cash register to ring up sales from our Nature Store, and take in admissions. Our staff will be on-hand to train you. You’ll enjoy being the face of the Center and all afternoon volunteers will get to see our “Word with a Bird” program. Please contact Laurie Haig, Volunteer Coordinator, at lhaig@sanc.org or 414 352-2880 x144 if you are interested in volunteering.

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center volunteers provide essential support for our day-to-day operations and special events. They are a vital part of the Center’s warm atmosphere and “can-do” work ethic. Several hundred people volunteer nearly 20,000 hours each year and provide invaluable support to our teachers and staff. They also work diligently with our land stewardship staff to help preserve and restore our 185-acre “outdoor classroom” and the site around our Gold LEED certified green building. Without our volunteers, the center could not function. Whatever your particular interests or talent, we have a volunteer opportunity for you. Corporate groups of all sizes are welcome.

Volunteer benefits:

In addition to discovering a little more about themselves, volunteers at the center enjoy these benefits:
  • 20% discount at our nature store
  • Free seasonal hikes led by our staff
  • Annual volunteer recognition dinner
  • Member rate for events and classes
  • Sincere thanks from a grateful staff
  • Students may count their volunteer hours for clubs or school
Do you have a good idea for a project? Let me know!
